Great read, great playlist, had me hooked from the very beginning , it was a book I didn’t wanna put down and at the same time I didn’t want It to end, lots of great imagery and character development that kept me intrigued to the last word. I highly recommend this book! Not only are the chapters short which is great but the story flows in an interesting way, it keeps you wanting more . Can’t wait to read Devils Breakfast!

Four Out of Five Stars: A VERY GOOD BOOK, WELL THOUGHT OUT

A very good book, well thought out, very involving story. Lots of atmosphere and environmental details that really build a sense of a certain time and place (Portland). I like how it weaves different plot lines. Part murder mystery, part character study. I know it sounds crass but it does feel like a really good independent cable series that you would binge watch season 1 to see how this all comes out. Detective Dudek is not exactly a poster boy for police officers but as long as you’re not someone who wants their main characters all warm and fuzzy you’ll like the character, like the story.

New Customer Review: DEVIL’S BREAKFAST

4 out of 5 stars on Amazon.

“I was pleased with my purchase of this book”

I was pleased with my purchase of this book. I like to go out of the mainstream and read books that have a different style or try something different. I’m not talking about anything crazy experimental, just something not written in a color by numbers way. Something where you can hear an individuals voice when you read it.

I think this book is more of a character driven piece and so, unsurprisingly, I think if you find Hastings interesting and get into his character then you will enjoy the book. Yes, there are certain over-arching themes that are important but I still enjoyed it first and foremost as a crime/police story. I don’t agree with/buy into every plot twist in the book but then I rarely do and in any case was well entertained throughout. There are certain “surprises” which were indeed surprising to me (don’t want to spoil it) but weren’t as important to me as they may have been for others, didn’t make or break the book, but they do put a different spin on the idea of a bitter/hard-boiled cop character. So, yes, I recommend it.

Not just funny: A recent review of DEVIL’S BREAKFAST

Intriguing and thought provoking book!

Being raised by a pastor, I clearly grew up in a religious household. Most would imagine a book driven by the idea of an “anti-god” would be something similar minded people would steer away from. Even I was a little skeptical at first, but the idea in the book really made me think. Not in a way of doubting my beliefs, but just a very profound and intriguing idea. The writing presents an entrance for the reader to expand on thought and ponder the world in which we live in a different light.
